Youth to travel to Argentina

A Washington County teen will be traveling to Argentina this summer as part of the 4-H/Argentina Exchange Program. Megan Haffner, 17 years old, daughter of Jeff and Kelle Haffner will join seven 4-H’ers from across the country for the exchange, from July 5 to Aug. 6. While there, the American teens will be learning the local culture by living with host families and participating in community life.

Haffner is among two from Ohio who will be on the trip. She will begin her tour with orientation sessions in Columbus and Buenos Aires. This program in is coordinated by the City Government of Lincoln. A trip to the famous Iguazu Waterfalls will be part of the experience.

She attends Warren High School, is a member of the Trail Blazers 4-H Club, has been a 4-H Camp Counselor, past president of Warren FFA, and on the Barlow Jr. Fair Board. She states, “I am excited to go because we live in an enormous world and I have only experienced a very small part of it. As global citizens, we should all be knowledgeable, whether that be through firsthand experience or vicariously through media or literature.”

Youth interested in traveling overseas or families interested in hosting someone from another country should contact the Extension Office at 376-7431. More information can also be found online, visit www.ohio4h.org/youth/international.

Ohio 4-H is currently seeking families to host youth from Japan from July 23 to Aug. 18 this summer. Youth and families do not need to be current 4-H members to apply. Join the fun and learn about your world.
