Fish and Game’s fishing derby May 18

The Washington County Fish and Game Association will be holding its annual Youth Fishing Derby from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 18 at 2100 Duck Creek Road in Whipple. The derby is for ages 1 to 17 with trophies for each age group. There will be concessions, 50/50 drawing, raffles during the day, a country store and gifts for all children in attendance. Raffle tickets can be bought from any trustee or on that day. They are $1 each or six for $5. The event is open to the public.

The lake will be stocked with shellcrackers this year and already holds bass, catfish, black and white crappie, yellow perch, and walleye. There will be no trout because of the hot weather.
