Grad attends her 80th alumni banquet

Marie Grosz Jackson, a graduate of the Salem Liberty Class of 1934, a class of 11, attended her 80th alumni banquet on May 24. This was also the school’s 80th Alumni Banquet.

She was born on the family farm in the Lower Salem area to William and Ida Wenzel Grosz. She married Carl R. Jackson in 1934. They lived in Lowell, Cleveland, Arizona and California before settling in Cambridge, Ohio, where she resides now.

The couple had five children: Herschel (Julia) Jackson of Arab, Ala., Peggy (David) Slay of West Lafayette, Ohio, Gert Jackson of Old Washington, Ohio, Cheryl (Gary) Jiles of Cambridge, Ohio, and Viva (J.R.) Arthurs of Thornville, Ohio.

She has 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren of which two grandchildren are deceased. Her husband passed away in 1988.

Her brother, Robert Grosz, still lives on the family farm with his wife, Juanita, in the Lower Salem area and also graduated from Salem Liberty in 1951 and attended to banquet.
