Area garden clubs gather for lunch, meeting
The Muskingum Garden Club, along with invited members of the Belpre and Barlow garden clubs, met on July 8 at the Reno Community Center’s cafeteria and then took a tour of ponds and gardens. The Muskingum Garden Club provided lunch for all of the guests. President Barbara Garverick and Judy VanDyk brought entrees and the rest of the Muskingum members brought side dishes, desserts, beverages, and table settings. There were about 24 members present.
Garverick began the meeting welcoming the guests from Belpre and Barlow. She led everyone in prayer before lunch. After lunch the members from each club introduced themselves and explained how they got involved in gardening. Since it was a social gathering, a business meeting was not conducted.
After lunch and introductions, the group visited the home of Linda McDougal and received a tour of her ponds and gardens. She shared her knowledge of maintaining a pond and answered questions members had regarding her koi pond and her second pond which contains a variety of goldfish.
Some members then visited the home of a neighbor, Arden McDougal, and toured her gardens. She explained the different varieties of plants in her garden and answered questions members had about them. All of the members adjourned after the garden tours.
