CVB announces first Ambassador of the Month

The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau announces Lacey Lanning, the reservations manager at the Lafayette Hotel, as the first recipient of Ambassador of the Month.

This bi-monthly award is presented by the CVB to a professional that serves as the most outstanding advocate for promoting the area as a distinctive destination. The winner of the award receives $100 in Marietta Bucks and a certificate from the CVB. They are also entered in a chance to be the Ambassador of the Year.

“I was honored to be the first recipient of this award,” said Lanning. “Receiving it lets me know that I have been diligent in helping others enjoy their time here.”

Jeri Knowlton, executive director of the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, said that the award came about through the creation of the I Heart customer service training the CVB held. “We wanted to find a way to reward the hard working individuals in the tourism industry that make Marietta-Washington County such a wonderful place to visit,” said Knowlton. “Lacey’s passion for her job and Marietta-Washington County, made her the ideal candidate to be the first recipient of this award.”

According to Lanning, the I Heart Training was extremely beneficial and she believes it will help her become an even better advocate of Marietta-Washington County. “There are so many things to see and do in Marietta and this training encouraged me to continue to explore things I’m unfamiliar with,” said Lanning. “I had never been to the Marietta Adventure company before the training, but now that I’ve been introduced to it, it will be one of my top recommendations to visitors.”

I Heart participants were required to attend all three sessions, visit a historical attraction, experience an outdoor recreation activity and attend a Merchants and Artists Walk.
