CVB’s ‘Home Away from Home’ contest still taking entries

The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s “Home Away from Home Contest” is still taking submissions.

The 600 to 750 word stories detailing how they spend their time in Marietta-Washington County can be submitted to the CVB for a chance to be included in the 2015 Official Getaway Guide. Participants are asked to also send along three photographs showcasing their time spent in Marietta and Washington County.

The winning entries will not only be included in the guide, but will also be treated to a full day in Marietta, recently named the sixth best small town to visit by the Smithsonian Magazine.

This day includes a night’s stay for two at the House on Harmar Hill, a ride on the Valley Gem Sternwheeler, a Trolley Tour and dinner at The House of Wines.

According to Jeri Knowlton, executive director of the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, it’s the stories from repeat visitors that demonstrates just how special Marietta-Washington County is. “There is nothing like the testimony of people who come back to the area every year or few years,” said Knowlton. “It fills us with a sense of pride knowing that Marietta-Washington County feels like a second home to so many of our visitors.”

Deadline for submission for the “Home Away from Home” contest is Sept. 30. For more information visit www.mariettaohio.org/homeawaycontest.
