Concert commemorating the centennial of World War I
A concert commemorating the centennial of World War I, “Lest We Forget: Remembering Washington County in the First World War,” will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 7, at Peoples Bank Theatre, located at 222 Putnam St. in Marietta.
In April 1917 Congress declared the U.S. was at war. The first world war stands as a forgotten time in American history. On Marietta’s Founders Day, “Lest We Forget” will remember Washington County’s involvement in this conflict with an evening of WWI era music by talented regional musicians and renowned speakers at Peoples Bank Theatre. Join us as we reflect and honor the memory of Washington County’s men and women 100 years later.
Tickets are $15 general admission. Pre-sale at http://peoplesbanktheatre.com/event/lest-we-forget. General admission will be available at the door.
Washington County Historical Society (WCHS) members attending the annual Founders Day Dinner should contact WCHS for dinner/concert package.
Featured speakers include Dr. Paul Lockhart, author and historian, Wright State University; Sgt. First Class Joshua Mann, Historian, Ohio National Guard; Becki Trivison, program coordinator, Local History & World War One Commemoration, Ohio History Connection; Dr. Matthew Young, historian, Marietta College.
