Fur and Feather 4-H

The Fur and Feather 4-H Club held their meeting on April 13 at the Second Congregational Church. The club discussed upcoming Quality Assurance dates, community service projects, fundraising, important dates, royalty application deadlines, fair updates, and pre-fair judging.

Seven members and three advisers attended the meeting. The next meeting will be held on Friday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers 4-H Club had a meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 13 at the MiniBell Golf Course in Vienna, W.Va. Cory Hoffman led the American Pledge and Holly McCoy led the 4-H Pledge. There were 18 members and 11 guests present.

Old Business included:

Enrollment forms due on April 14. Candy Bar money now has to be given to Kelle as soon as possible.

4-H poster and window display both earned Honorable Mention.

All who helped with the Endowment Dinner and Auction or who donated for it was appreciated.

Next Quality Assurance is April 19 at Warren High School, 7 to 9 p.m.; then May 15, Career Center, 7 to 9 p.m. Anyone showing a live animal at any of the fairs must attend one quality assurance.

All who helped at the Annual Tack Auction was appreciated. Voted on a gift card for Nina and Larry Boggs for being the auctioneer at the tack auction.

New secretary, Tessa Haffner.

April Community Service Project at Appletree Assisted Living in Barlow was a success. The 4-H members made gifts for the residents and planted flowers for them in their flower beds. The club periodically needs to stop by and water the flowers and pull the weeds.

New Business: May 6 is Camp Hervida Chicken BBQ. Anyone wanting to help, there is some going at 4:30 p.m. to work. Also voted to donate something from the club for the country store.

May 19 — Smitty’s Pizza fundraiser: Horse committee, May 11; Advisory committee, May 17 to 19.

1st Equine riding session is May 13 at Claudia Simms Barn, 10 a.m. to noon.

Taking inquires of where the Annual Camping Trip will be this year.

Taking orders for new memebers for T-shirts and anyone else who wants one.

Next meeting will be May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Barlow Fairgrounds.

Bull’s Eye 4-H

The Bull’s Eye 4-H group called the meeting to order at 3 p.m. April 9, by president Ashton Binegar. Wesley Schaad lead the American pledge and Bryson Ruble lead the 4-H pledge. The treasurer’s report none of this money from the Applebee’s money from Saturday. The beginning balance this week was $6,209.28. There was no deposits made this week. This leaves a balance of $7,247.27 of which $4,320 is earmarked. There is $2,927.27 in available funds. The Applebee’s pancake breakfast was Saturday it was a big success.

4-H Officer training was last Monday. The only officer who attend and represented Bull’s Eye 4-H Club was Josie Burke who is our news reporter. We also discussed that the club T-shirts should be here at the next meeting that is April 23. There was no meeting April 16 due to Easter. The next meeting will be Sunday, April 23. We also discussed “Experience The Outdoors” it will be at Camp Hervida on May 20. The families of Trippett, Crum, Warner and Moore supplied the refreshments for this club meeting. The people who will be bringing refreshments to the next meeting on April 23 is Damian Huck, Caleb Smith, Bryson Ruble, and Ashton Binegar. The people who will be leading the pledges at the next meeting is Micheal and Anna Peck.

Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H

The Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H club met March 12 at the Churchtown Senior Center. The meeting was called to order by President Richard Canterbury. The American Pledge was lead by Caleb Schaad and the 4-H pledge was lead by Ruslan Strahler. The minutes were read by Secretary Anna Strahler, and were approved as read. A treasurer’s report was given by Connor Tullius. A health report was read by Ruslan Strahler titled “Fitness Matters,” and a health report was read by Brenner Schwendeman titled “Be a Flu Fighter.”

The advisors congratulated members for a job well done in completing the window display in the St. John preschool window.

Under old business members discussed selecting a few members to help set up for the 2017 endowment dinner on Friday, March 17.

Members then went on with the meeting and elected new officers.

President- Richard Canterbury, Vice President- Connor Tullius, Secretary- Anna Strahler, Assistant Secretary-Isaiah Tullius, Treasurer- Ruslan Strahler, Assistant Treasurer-Christian Schwendeman, Health and Safety Officers- Caleb Schaad and Chad Lang, Recreation- Amelia Miller, Brenner Schwendeman, Kail Bauerbach, and Carter Brooker.

There were also two demonstrations given. Isaiah Tullius presented a demonstration on “Different Breeds of Dairy Cattle” and Joyce Kronberg (advisor) demonstrated different types of X-rays.

The cloverbuds demonstrated what they learned about butterfat in milk and making healthy choices.

Ruslan Strahler made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Isaiah Tullius seconded the motion. The next meeting will be April 23 at Inman Liberty Park.
