The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Center recently honored the Surgical Technologist program graduates.

Graduates of the Surgical Technologist program completed one year (1,100 hours) of training that focused on: basic anatomy and physiology, microbiology, medical terminology, surgical procedures, pharmacology, and fundamentals of perioperative techniques.

Amy West, CST oversees the Surgical Technologist program and works at Camden Clark Medical Center on the Orthopedics/Neurology Team. West serves on the WV State Assembly Board of Certified Surgical Technologists and said, “the career continues to be in high demand throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley.” She added, “The graduates have all been offered jobs as Certified Surgical Technologists at Memorial Health System, Camden Clark Medical Center and Genesis Healthcare in Zanesville.”

In June, the Surgical Technology graduates sat for their CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), an administratively independent body from the Association of Surgical Technologists, which is comprised of Certified Surgical Technologists, surgeons, and the public, with all 5 passing the exam. This marks the fifth consecutive class with 100% pass rates.

The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Center is located on State Route 676. The next Surgical Technologist class begins January 2018 and has an enrollment deadline of October 30. For enrollment information call 740-373-6283 or visit www.mycareerschool.com.
