Student council does service project

Gift giving teaches value of kindness and giving

St. Mary Catholic School Student Council members recently completed a community service project to provide Christmas gifts to those in need. The eighth grade student council members were each assigned a class to coordinate. Our students are asked to pray for the family in need, as well as do chores, or pull from their own piggy bank to donate towards the gifts. This project has taught our students the value of kindness and giving. And, our student council students have worked extremely hard to budget, coordinate, shop and, with all of the hard work, they were able to collect enough money and gifts to provide: Gifts for 18 children from Washington County Children’s Services; five gifts to seniors at the O’Neill Center; 30 gift baskets for St. Vincent DePaul; and three boxes of toys to Washington County Community Action.
