Community Crew

March 2018

Churchtown Community Crew 4-H Club held its meeting at noon on March 11 at St. John Central Grade School. The meeting was called to order by president Haley Tornes. Cameron Miller led the Pledge of Allegiance and Jaslynn Casto led the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was to your favorite cartoon character. The minutes were read and approved. A treasurer’s report was given by Ethan Poulton. A song titled, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” was led by Kara Schaad, Mackenzie Schaad and Jaelynn Tornes. The devotion Starfish was given by Emma Poulton. A health report titled, “The Importance of Handwriting,” was given by Lane Schaad. A safety report called, “Stretching and Exercise,” was given by Dylan Hart.

Old business

Our poster display won Best Promotion of Being Part of 4-H. Our table display also won Honorable Mention. Enrollment forms are due to the Extension Office on April 16th. Project judging is July 17th from 8 to 11:30, followed by the public speaking contest at 1:30. Officer’s training is March 27th at 7:00 at the Career Center, please attend if you hold an office.

New business

Endowment dinner set-up is April 6 and volunteers are needed for that as well as the day of the dinner. Tickets for the dinner are available from the advisors. A motion was made by Maddie Wells and seconded by Ethan Poulton to donate a Garden Basket to the Endowment Dinner, the motion passed. Candy bar money is due, turn in to your advisor if you haven’t already. A new Robotics Club is being started and their first meeting is March 19 at 6:30 p.m. The second Quality Assurance is April 19 at Warren High School and the third is May 15 at the Career Center. 4-H Camp Cleanup is April 14 at 9 a.m.; volunteers are needed. The Shooting Sports club starts March 18 at 1 p.m. at Camp Hervida.

Refreshments were brought this time by Tornes and Casto, and are to be brought next by Miller and Schaad.

The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. April 15 at the Senior Center.
