120 attend annual Casto reunion this year

The annual Casto Reunion for the descendants of John and Renna Molze Casto was held Saturday, July 7, at Elks Lodge #477. In attendance were 120 people, including the last two surviving sons, Russell Casto and Ronald Casto. Those traveling from out of state were from Missouri, New York, and Texas.

A potluck dinner was served. Chris Casto gave the invocation.

The business meeting was called to order by President Laurie Neader. Officers elected for 2019 reunion were Laurie Neader, president, Gary Casto, vice president, Tim Casto, treasurer, Karen Bloomingdale, secretary, Pam Bailey and Kathleen Schneider, historians; Diane VanWey, Marcie Warne, and Cheryl Siskowic, care committee. Chris and Tammy Casto, Steve and Jill Casto, Ian Casto, Amy and Doug Casto, Pam Bailey, and Tim and Kelly Casto volunteered for the set-up committee for next year’s reunion.

Tim Casto gave the treasurer’s report.

Kathleen Schneider, historian, reported during the year there were three marriages: Franklin Tucker, Sr. to Jessica White; Elizabeth Klemenz to Benjamin Pintar, and Ami Casto to Johan Ardwidmark. There were four births: Maggie Mae Tucker to Franklin, Jr. and Jessica Tucker; Harper Louise Myers to Scott and Anna Myers; Charles Weston Casto to Wes and Holly Casto, and Matthew Adam Lemasters to Tim and Jessica Lemasters. High School and College graduates: Justin Erb, Morgan High School; Morgan Newbrough, Marietta High School; Cody Holland, Warren High School and Washington County Career Center; Dyrek Williamson, Paul Mitchell School; Jansen Mossack, Washington State College, Jason tucker, Washington State College, and Kevin Bailey, Masters from University of Louisville.

Deaths reported: Franklin Dee Tucker, III, Nov. 3, 2017; Phillip Casto, Dec. 5, 2017; Doris McKitrick, Feb. 16, 2018; Harold Sheppard, Feb. 18, 2018; Geneva Carpenter, Feb. 24, 2018; Angel Frost, May 28, 2018; and N. Ruth Casto, June 5, 2018.

Family members currently serving in the military are: Luke Grieg, attending Texas A&M MSC Program, and Brian Scott Myers, Chief Petty Officer, Navel Air Station, Damn Annex in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Pam Bailey reported there were 523 descendants.

Chris Casto served as auctioneer for the white elephant sale assisted by Kim Casto and Rusty Neader. Russell Casto was the eldest attending and Arianna Wynn was the youngest attending. Steve and Jill Casto were recognized for traveling the furthest, Cumby Texas.

The annual golf outing was held at Lakeside. Competing were Tom Bloomingdale, Ronald Cssto, Russell Casto, Brandon Bauer, Larry Britton, Kenny Britton, Rodney Scott, Garrett, Scott, Chris Casto, Steve Casto, Kim Casto, Bruce Casto, Richard Young, and Jeff Green. Tom Bloomingdale, Ronald Casto, Russell Casto and Brandon Bauer were the team winners.

The next reunion will be on July 6, 2019.
