May 20, 2018

Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club met on May 20, 2018. The members met at Lowell Elementary School to plant flowers around the bell for their Community Service Project. After planting the flowers they proceeded to St. John’s Evangelical Church for the business meeting. The meeting was called to order by President Sierra Bayless. The pledges were led by Gwen Rauch & Logan Wagner. Members answered role call with “What I Did for My Mom for Mother’s Day.” The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer presented a bill for flowers and mulch for the flower bed at the school.

All the Market Animal members have attended Quality Assurance Training. Tag in for Market Lambs, Goats, and Dairy Feeders will be June 2 at the Washington County Fair Grounds. State Leadership Camp will be June 2-6 at Camp Ohio. Cloverbud Camp will be July 2, Beginner Camp will be July 2-3, Junior Camp will be July 9-13, and Senior Camp will be July 23-27 at Camp Hervida. You can register now for all camps.

Members were reminded to work on projects and plan their demonstrations for the next meeting. Healthy eating tips were presented and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables was discussed. Our next meeting will be June 10, 2018. Madison Butler led recreation. Members had to name camping items that began with the first letter of their name. Refreshments were served by Dominic Brooker, Levi Wagner & Logan Wagner.

June 10, 2018

Lowell Lively Lassies & Lads 4-H Club met on June 10, 2018. The meeting was called to order by President Sierra Bayless. The pledges were led by Sierra Bayless & Gwen Rauch. Members answered role call with “Where I Would Like to Go On Vacation.” The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s Report was given.

The 4-H Camp Theme this year is Safari Adventure. Ariane Pollock & Ben Wagner will be camp counselors. Madison Butler, Janessa Ross, Levi Wagner & Logan Wagner have all registered for camp. Also, Madison Butler will attend Space Camp and Taylor Haines will attend Sea Camp.

The tentative date to pick up poultry is July 12. Project Judging for all non-animal projects will be July 17 with a make-up date of August 7. Members must attend judging to earn project completion for the year. Guidelines for all projects are in the June/July Family Newsletter. Pen reservations for the Washington County Fair are due by August 3 to the Senior Fair Board. Skillathons for animal projects will be August 4 at the Washington County Fair Grounds. The theme this year for the Washington County Fair is “4-H Then – Now & Forever.” All members need to be thinking of ideas for the Fair Booth.

Madison Butler gave a demonstration on Cake Decorating. She showed how to make piping letters, flowers & ribbon designs. Taylor Haines gave a demonstration on Woodworking. She showed different kinds of wood and told what it is used for. She is making a Treasure Chest for her 4-H Project. The Cloverbuds learned how to follow directions and practiced by making slime and playing Simon Says. The next meeting will be June 24, 2018. Recreation was led by Madison Butler. Members played Two Truths And A Lie. Refreshments were served by Cole Haines & Taylor Haines.
