Library classes

Three Washington County Public Library sites will be offering free computer classes this month:

Barlow

The Barlow location of the Washington County Public Library, at 45 White Oak Professional Center, will be offering the following free computer class in October:

Basic Word Processing, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9: If you are still using a typewriter, it may be time to move into the computer age. Using a computer and a word processing app, you can create better looking documents with much less effort. Learn how to enter text, format it, and edit it using tools such as Cut, Copy, and Paste.

Using Computers – Working with Files, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23: For many people, a computer’s filing system is a total mystery. In this class we will look at how the file system is structured and how you can put it to use to organize your information. We will also look at how the Recycle Bin works and how to set up and use Cortana, Microsoft’s new search tool.

Computer classes are free of charge and last two hours. Space is limited so registration in recommended.

Belpre

The Belpre location of the Washington County Public Library, at 2012 Washington Blvd., will be offering the following free computer class in October:

Marietta

The Marietta location of the Washington County Public Library, at 615 Fifth Street, will be offering the following free computer classes in October:

Using Computers – Backups and More, 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11: There are steps you can take to make your computer use more worry free. Learn how to backup and restore your computer so you are prepare for problems. This class also looks at account management, and how to install apps and devices.

Getting Started with Email, 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15: The cost of postage keeps going up. Learn how to avoid the increases by using email. This class explains how email works and how you can put it to use. You will learn how to create an email account, send and receive emails, and deal with attachments.

Introduction to the Internet, 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25: Join us to learn what the Internet is, how it works, and how to connect to it. We will also cover how to use a web browser to “surf the Web.”

Computer classes are two hours long. Space is limited so registration in recommended.
