Local school board members attend state convention

Four board members from Fort Frye Local School District; Stephanie Lang, Charlie Schilling, Kevin Worthington, Johnna Zalmanek and two administrators; Stephanie Starcher, superintendent and Stacy Bolden, treasurer, attended the Capital Conference Nov. 11 – 13.

More than 9,000 people attended this year’s Capital Conference at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, which included more than 150 sessions of panel discussions, workshops, one-on-one assistance and nationally renowned speakers addressing a variety of educational issues. Keynote speakers at the 2018 Capital Conference include Academy Award-winning actress Geena Davis and millennial thought leader and venture capitalist Alex Banayan, one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 and Business Insider’s Most Powerful People under 30.

More than 500 public school boards from around the state were represented at the Annual Meeting of the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Delegate Assembly Nov. 12. Delegates considered the OSBA legislative platform, a comprehensive document defining OSBA’s views and goals on a wide range of education issues. Each of OSBA’s member boards are entitled to one voting delegate.

Representing Fort Frye Local School District at the Annual Business Meeting of OSBA Delegate Assembly was Stephanie Lang. The delegate meeting was a significant event of the 63rd annual OSBA Capital Conference and Trade Show.
