Choral Society Valentine Concert
The Parkersburg Choral Society will hold their Valentine Concert on Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. at Vienna Baptist Church. Following the concert, all in attendance are invited to enjoy a reception and mingle with the musicians.
The program will include a variety of choral works, some of which will be accompanied by a jazz combo. Throughout the concert there will also be several solo works performed by members of the choral society. Selections for the concert will include familiar pieces such as “Fields of Gold” by G.M. Sumner, “Come Fly with Me” arranged by Mac Huff, “After the Love Has Gone” arranged by Steve Zegree, “Hernando’s Hideaway” from The Pajama Game arranged by Mark Bryer and “As Long as You’re Mine” from Wicked by Stephen Schwartz. Other selections will include “Ask Me No More” by Ruth Morris Gray, “I Am Not Yours” by David Childs and “Come Back to Me in Dreams” by Mark Burrows.
Admission to all of the concerts by the Parkersburg Choral Society is free. Donations are accepted at the door to help support the activities of the Choral Society. The Choral Society is supported entirely by the donations from audience members and music lovers from the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Since 1888, the group has been performing for the Mid-Ohio Valley. Members range in age and experience, but all volunteer their time to come together and create music with one another. The Parkersburg Choral Society is under the direction of Luke Zyla and accompanied by David Nuss.
