A Parkersburg man was taken to the hospital after a single car accident on Ohio 7 near Newport Wednesday.

At approximately 7:42 a.m., Jesse Hilverding, 31, was driving southbound on Ohio 7 near mile marker 41 when he lost control of his vehicle, drove off the road and struck a tree. The wreck caused the closure of one lane of traffic while authorities removed Hilverding from his 2009 Dodge Ram truck.

Authorities from the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated that Hilverding did receive non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital. Drugs or alcohol were said not to be a factor in the accident, but the wreck is still under investigation and could produce charges, according to the patrol.
