Lenten, Easter events

n Easter service and breakfast will be held at on Easter Sunday at Second Congregational Church. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. with the service following at 9:30 a.m. The church is located at 1855 Greene St., Marietta.

nFirst Congregational Church’s Easter Sunday service will be Celebration of the Resurrection. Join the people of First Presbyterian and First Congregational at 7 a.m. on the porch of First Congregational Church as we sing and celebrate and watch the world awaken to the Easter sunrise. The service includes a brief message – followed by Holy Communion. In the case of inclement weather, it will be held indoors. Following the early service all are invited to gather in the church fellowship hall for a potluck breakfast. Beverages and paper goods provided. At 10 a.m. the Resurrection celebration continues with special music, hymns, and the Easter message “It’s You!” presented by Rev. Linda Steelman.

nEaster services will be held on Easter morning at 9 a.m. at Highland Ridge Community Church located at 2200 Highland Ridge Road in Lowell. An Easter Egg Hunt will follow the service. All area children are invited.

There will also be Easter services at St. John’s Evangelical Church located at 312 4th St., Lowell at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Open communion will be observed at both churches. Also everyone is welcome to attend both services.

nGilman United Methodist Church’s Easter Sunday celebration, “Transformation” will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Easter message will celebrate the transforming power of our God, who transformed Jesus’ death into eternal life, who transforms caterpillars to butterflies, who transforms the bitterest winters into spring, who transforms us from death to life.

nA Community Sunrise Service will be held at the Marietta Township Community Building on Sand Hill Road, Reno at 7 a.m. on Easter Sunday, followed by breakfast. Music will be provided by Steve and Beverly Pottmeyer and Pastor Wendy Erb will deliver a brief message The Sand Hill United Methodist Church and the Reno Christian Church invite the public to attend.

Easter worship services will be held at the respective churches at their normal times.

nA special service in observance of Easter is planned for Sunday at Twin Rivers Baptist Church, 110 DAV Road, Whipple.

The morning worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with church pastor, Jeff Baumer, bringing a special message focusing on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Special music for Easter will be presented by the church’s adult choir. A special musical selection by the Adult Ensemble is also planned.

Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. with classes available for all ages. The evening service will begin at 6 p.m. Easter Sunday.

nThe Watertown Presbyterian Church Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. It will be followed by a free community breakfast at the Watertown Fire Department on Ohio 676.

nParr Hill Community Church on Ohio 7 in Beavertown will have its Easter Sunrise Service Sunday at 8 a.m. Breakfast sandwiches will be served. Sunday School will be at 9:30 a.m. The Sunday evening service will be at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Tunnel and Warren Chapel United Methodist Churches will hold Easter Sunrise Service at Warren Chapel on Sunday at 7 a.m. with Myla Mitchem and the youth in charge. The church ladies, under the direction of Dollie Davis, will host a full breakfast following the service.

Easter Egg Hunts

An Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Inman-Liberty Park at 10 a.m. on April 19. Toddlers to 6th graders will be divided into four age groups. Activities and refreshments will follow in the multi-purpose building of Tunnel United Methodist Church (which is the same place the Egg Hunt will be held if the weather is bad). Inman-Liberty Park and Tunnel UMC are located in Warren Township at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road.

The Reno Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. on April 19 at old Reno school.

The Community Children’s Easter Egg Hunt and free soup luncheon will be held at Veto Presbyterian Church on April 19 starting at 11 a.m. The church is located at 4574 State Route 339, just outside of Belpre.

Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 1 p.m. at the fire house on Easter for the Oak Grove community and West Muskingum Township families.
