Devola preschool holding registration
Putnam Church Preschool in Devola will be holding open registration for fall of 2014. Half day programs for both 3 and 4-year-olds will be offered. Days will include learning about God’s Word, the Bible; exploring God’s creation, reading and number readiness, working and playing in small groups and developing small and large muscle coordination. Children can be enrolled on April 24 between 3 and 8 p.m. at the church. Putnam Congregational Church is located in Devola at 707 Masonic park Road.

Catholic church hosts Italian dinner
The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption Italian dinner will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 25 at St. Marys School, Third and Marion streets, Marietta. The menu includes chicken parmesan and spaghetti or meatballs and spaghetti with salad, bread, drink and dessert. The cost is $8 for adults, children 12 and under for $5, and 5 and under free.

The Beverly United Methodist Church will be sponsoring a free community lunch on April 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will be sloppy joes, hotdogs, salad, vegetable, dessert and beverage. Women’s group to host rummage sale
Beverly United Methodist Women will hold their spring rummage and bake sale on May 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The “Bag Sale” will begin at 3 p.m. The church is located at 700 Park St., Beverly. The Marietta Memorial Bloodmobile will be on site from 1 to 6 p.m.
Church to hold 86th annual homecoming
Faith United Methodist Church will be holding their 86th annual homecoming celebration at 11 a.m. on May 4. The guest speaker will be Ray Wiblin. Musical guests will be Dave and Susan Smith. There will be a carry in dinner to follow at noon.
Marietta church offers free meal, clothes
Good Samaritan Free Meal and Clothing Giveaway will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 17, June 21 and July 19 at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 Seventh St., Marietta.
Church to hold bake sale in June
Faith United Methodist Church will be holding their basement and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 6, and from 9 a.m. to noon, June 7. There will be baked goods and assorted items for sale.

Open house for
Dean Kehl was born on April 23, 1934, along with twin sister, Jean, to Von and Ida (Burkhart) Kehl. He was a 1951 graduate from Elk Local High School in Harriettsville, Ohio. He married Helen Lee on Aug. 22, 1954. His children are Dan (Marilyn) Kehl, Bruce (Lisa) Kehl, and Jane (Mark) Eakle. He has five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He is a member of Masterton Lodge #429 at Lebanon and a member of the Lower Salem United Methodist Church. He is retired from AEP Muskingum River Plant.
An open house celebration will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Putnam Congregational Church, 707 Masonic Park Road (Devola) Marietta. Family and friends are invited to attend. Artists sought for upcoming Walks
Marietta Main Street is in search of local and regional artists to participate in the 2014 Merchants & Artists Walks. This event brings together local merchants with local artists to make for a unique shopping experience in Downtown Marietta and Harmar Village.
“The Merchants & Artists Walk is a great way for local artists to have a storefront for the evening, and gain exposure. It’s a great way to increase your sales, as well as gain a lot of exposure for your craft,” said Jean G. Farmer, Executive Director of Marietta.

The Merchants and Artists Walk, a popular downtown event, always falls on the second Friday of the Month, starting in May. Dates are as follows: May 9, June 13, July 11,Aug. 8, Nov. 7. Marietta Main Street is a non-profit, revitalization organization located in Marietta.
Creation seminar at Williamstown church
Faith Bible Church in Williamstown will host a two-day Creation Seminar on April 5 and 6.
The seminar will kick off with a free meal at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the church fellowship hall, followed by Session 1 at 6 p.m. The topic for Session 1 will be “What About Dinosaurs?”
It will continue on Sunday with Session 2 at 9:30 a.m. with the topic “Presuppositions and Biases in the Creation/Evolution Debate.” Session 3 at 6 p.m. with the topic “A Critique of Biological Evolution.”
The special speaker will be David Greear, the campus minister of Campus Light on the campuses of West Virginia University and Fairmont State University. He has been in campus ministry for 20 years and has been presenting Creation Seminars for the past 10 years.
A nursery will be provided for children under 3 years of age for all sessions. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend the seminar.

Church to start new Saturday service

Southeastern Ohio Pastors’ Fellowship
Myron K. Guiler, pastor of the Marietta Bible Center Church, will preach in the 10 a.m. service on Sunday. He will continue his series on the people involved in the crucifixion story. His message this week will be on Judas Iscariot. At 6 p.m. he will preach on “The Atoning Blood of Christ” in conjunction with the Lord’s Table.
The Southeastern Ohio Pastor’s Fellowship will meet at 10 a.m. on April 7 at the Cambridge Denney’s Restaurant. The preachers of the area are invited to attend.
Guiler will preach a week of special meetings at the Trinity Baptist Church in Rio Grande from April 7 to 11. The Bible College Choir will sing on Friday evening.
Lowell senior citizens meeting
Anyone 50 years of age or older is invited to come to the Lowell Senior Citizens meeting held at noon in the basement social area of St. John’s Evangelical Church at 312 4th St., Lowell on April 8, the second Tuesday of each month.
New members are welcome. A potluck luncheon is held at noon followed by a brief meeting. Bingo is played most months for B&W Bucks. Once a year there is a special get together with Beverly and Churchtown seniors with a meal and fellowship time. Everyone is invited to come and bring a potluck dish and join in the fellowship. New seniors and fresh ideas are always welcomed.
