First Baptist holds basement sale

The First Baptist Church of Marietta will be holding a basement sale from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on May 17. The church is located at 301 Fourth St., Marietta. All proceeds will benefit American Baptist Women’s missions. Please use the Fourth Street entrance.

Spring gospel sing in Cambridge

Spring Gospel Sing will be held May 17 starting at 11:30 a.m. at Spring Valley Campground in Cambridge. Admission and parking are free. This is a non-profit, non-denominational gospel concert.

Bible Center summer school to begin

Myron Guiler, pastor of Marietta Bible Center Church, will preach in both services on Sunday. The morning service will be at 10 a.m. and the evening service will be at 6 p.m. He will have special messages for the graduates.

The annual graduation service of the Marietta Bible College will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. An addition to the recognition of the graduates, there will be special music as well as awards for outstanding students. A reception for the graduates will be held following the service.

The Summer School of the Marietta Bible College will be held from June 2 to July 1.. Those wishing to enroll or receive further information should call the college phone number.

The annual Summer Bible Institute will be held on Wednesday evening through out the summer. This year’s study will be on eight great truths from the Bible.

Hand bell choirs to perform in Marietta

Five local hand bell choirs will be joining together for a Spring Ring on May 18 at 7 p.m. The concert will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, 506 Fourth St., Marietta.

The concert is free and open to the public. A free will donation will be collected to pay the balance due on a special commissioned piece for the 2015 spring ring recognizing 25 years of this musical event.

The five bell groups will process in, and will be doing several mass rings together, solo pieces by individual churches, and combined pieces with organ.

Hand bell choirs participating are the Christ United Methodist Church, Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Mary Catholic Church, and the Mid Ohio Valley Ringers. The mass ring is directed by Denise Homes, with John Ontko organist.

Concert planned for Veto church

The Fishermen will be in concert with Larry, Larry Keith and Jim at Veto Gospel Tabernacle at Veto and McGill roads in Vincent at 11 a.m. on May 18.

Beverly church hosts salad supper

The Beverly United Methodist Women will host a salad supper for women of the congregation and invited guests on May 19 . The salad supper will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the play at 7 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and entertainment.

As part of the 225th anniversary of the settling of the Village of Beverly, the night’s entertainment will be the reenactment of a drama originally presented to the public in February, 1960 by June Berkley’s combined seventh and eighth grade class. As an assignment in Ohio History, students did the research, wrote the script, produced and performed in the drama about many events in Beverly’s history.

New Mat church holding gospel meetings

New Matamoras Church of Christ will be hosting gospel meetings May 19 through 21 at 7 p.m. each evening. The speaker will be Tom Butterfield. The church is located at 401 Broadway St., New Matamoras. Marietta church hosting free lunch

First Presbyterian Church of Marietta is offering a free lunch for the community on May 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church is located on the corner of Wooster and Fourth Street with the entrance off Wooster Street. Everyone is welcome.

Beverly church hosts free lunch

The Beverly United Methodist Church will be having a free community lunch on May 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu is casseroles, salads, hot rolls, dessert and beverage.

The church is located at 700 Park St., Beverly and is handicapped assessable. No reservations are required.
