Hills UMC a stop on Fall Foliage Tour

The ladies of Hills United Methodist Church Women’s Society will once again be one of the stops on the Annual Fall Foliage Tour on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The church is located on the hill overlooking Hills Covered Bridge off Ohio 26 at the corner of Ohio 333 and Zion Ridge Road.

The ladies will be serving coney dogs with a variety of homemade soups and desserts. Dine in or carryout available.

A very special Iris appliqued quilt that has developed quite the history over the years will be raffled at 2 p.m.

Many years ago, originally donated by Ethel Warden, the ladies from Women’s Society (Ethel Warden, Louise Mendenhall, Irene Miller, Kay Lane, Frances Parlin, Edith Gutberlet, Elsie Handschumaker and Hazel Hasley) hand sewn/quilted and appliqued the quilt and raffled it to raise operating funds for Women’s Society.

In 2014, the original raffle winner donated the quilt back to Women’s Society and it was re-raffled at the fall foliage tour that year. The quilt made its way to its new home in California. This year it was again re-gifted to Women’s Society, and will once again be offered in a raffle at this year’s fall foliage tour. Tickets will be $2 each or three tickets for $5.

If you go: Hills United Methodist Church, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8.
