MOV Ringers fall concert

The Mid Ohio Valley Ringers Fall Concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at First Baptist Church, 813 Market St., Parkersburg.

The Mid Ohio Valley Ringers is West Virginia’s only bronze level community handbell choir, and has members from Parkersburg, Marietta, Williamstown, Little Hocking, Columbus, OH and Charleston, WV.

They ring 6 octaves of Schulmerich handbells, ranging from G2-G8; and 6 1/2 octaves of Malmark chimes, from C2-G8. This concert will premiere a 2-octave set of Silver Melody Bells, gifted to the group from the family of Denise Holmes. The Silver Melody Bells provide a distinctive, bright timbre and are used to add a tonal dimension. Weekly rehearsals are held at Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna.

Members of the group include Larry Hawkins, Rob Hrezo,Bryon Yetter, John Nicholson, Alvin Phillips, Jane Charnock, Gary Harris , Lois Coffey, Charlie Thomas, Jane Irvine, Beth Payton, Denise Holmes, Jimmy Sundquist, Donna Thomas, and Marijean Stockwell.

Joining the ensemble are local musicians David Puls, violin, and David Nuss, organ.

This concert is part of the First Baptist Bicentennial Celebration.
