GriefShare for 2018 — program to learn how to walk the journey of grief and be supported on the way; group meets every Sunday for 13 weeks, at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta; concludes on Sunday, April 8; no meeting on Easter Sunday, April 1; in each session, the group will watch a video featuring personal stories of those grieving the death of a loved one; after the video, there will be a discussion and sharing time together; there is a workbook, provided at no charge, for participants to take notes during the video; workbook also includes daily exercises to help those in attendance grow and heal; group will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in fellowship hall; light refreshments will be served; feel free to bring a brown bag lunch; to sign up for the class, contact facilitators Lucy Scott at 740-525-4952 and Vivian Brown at 740-373-8643; or call the church office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon, 740-373-6478.

Tuesday

“Finding My Way Home: Pathways of Life and the Spirit,” by Henri Nouwen, the last in a series of three Lenten bible studies, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday mornings, through March 20 (four weeks) in the lounge off the sanctuary at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta, lead by Judy Allen and Kathy Wentz; cost is $13; Henri Nouwen became one of the most inspiring spiritual guides of the 20th century.

Blanket and coat drive — North Hills Baptist Church is collecting new and slightly used blankets and coats. Items collected will be donated to the local Gospel Mission Food Pantry for give away to those in need of warm items this winter; can drop off at North Hills Baptist Church, 108 Stonecrest Dr., Marietta on Tuesdays 8 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays 2 to 5 p.m. or call 740-373-9816 if a different drop off time is needed.

Wednesday

Wednesday Lent services, 6:15 p.m., in the sanctuary at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Fourth and Scammel; there will be a soup/sandwich dinner first at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall; soup provided.

Awana program at Twin Rivers Baptist Church — classes held from 7 to 8:15 p.m. each Wednesday from September through May, throughout the school year, for boys and girls through the sixth grade; each evening’s session includes lesson time, Bible verse memorization, snacks and games; Awana classes are conducted for “Cubbies,” for preschoolers; “Sparks,” for children in kindergarten through the second grade; and “Truth & Training,” for students in third through sixth grades; also at 7 p.m. each Wednesday there is a teen class for students in grades seven through12, and an adult Bible class; Twin Rivers Baptist Church is on D.A.V. Live the Adventure – Royal Rangers, an activity based program for boys and young men in grades kindergarten to 12th grade, will be offered Wednesday nights from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Fort Harmar’s River of Life Assembly of God Church, located at 200 Franklin St. in Marietta. Royal Rangers teaches boys to have fun while learning leadership skills. It’s a merit based program, camping, rope craft, tool craft, archery, computers, sports and many others. Miscellaneous

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society accepts donations of clean, used furniture or bedding. They also accept used appliances in good working order. These items are given free to families in need. Call their helpline at 740-376-1334 and a member will meet you at their storage bin or pick up the items at your home.
