Churches host talk, concert
Five area churches will be sponsoring a worship seminar and concert on April 27 at Marietta High School, 115 Academy Drive in Marietta.
Matthew Smith, a singer and songwriter based out of Nashville and a founding member of the band Indelible Grace, will give the seminar at 5:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The seminar is designed for worship leaders, however anyone can attend. Smith will explain why he sings old hymns set to contemporary music, how he came to that conclusion, and why he thinks it’s so important. His latest album is called QuietHymns.
At 7:30 p.m., Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace will perform the concert in the auditorium, playing contemporary Christian music.
The seminar and concert are free and open to the public.
Williams Creek Baptist Church in Williamstown, The Journey Church in Marietta, Grace Baptist Church in Parkersburg, Redeemer in Parkersburg, and Veto Presbyterian Church in Veto are the churches sponsoring the concert.
These five churches are the same churches that sponsored the Reformation night that was held in October 2017 at Grace Baptist Church in Parkersburg.
CDs will be available for sale before and after the concert and during intermission.
