Ruth Pauline Elswick Buckley
Ruth Pauline Elswick Buckley, 94, of Belpre, rose to her heavenly home on Friday (Jan. 4, 2013).
Ruth was born in Belva, W.Va., the oldest daughter of James Henry Elswick and Grace Olive (Skaggs) Elswick. Ruth was married to Samuel Dixon Buckley for 56 years. (Sam passed in 1997 from Alzheimer’s.)
Ruth is survived by six children, Judith Ann (Ray) Wiblin of Belpre; Arlene Rose (Daniel) Swihart of South Lebanon, Ohio; Karen Lynn(Gary) Martin of Sarasota, Fla.; Donna Lou (Jerry) Deems of Englewood, Fla.; Janet Kay (Albert) Nelson of Belpre; and Phillip Dixon (Susan) Buckley of Fairfield, Ohio.
Ruth is grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, Dr. R. Todd Wiblin (Dr. Karen Kuntz), Iowa; Pastor Maria Wiblin, Iowa; Kathleen Edwards and son Jordan, Ohio; Jennifer (Mike) Long and sons Ben and Gabe, Ohio; Barry (Lisa) Martin and children Logan and Madison, Fla.; Steven Martin, Fla.; Zack (Monet) Deems and children Mauve, Xander, Gavin and Lily, Fla.; Tim (Michelle)Deems, Fla.; Lydia (Josh) McCumber and sons Caleb and Nathaniel; Lindsay (Justin) Young, Ohio; Tricia Mills and Christy Jordan, Ohio; Deborah Roby and children Madalynn and Quentin, Ohio; Larry Martin and children Anthony, Tyler, LaMaria and Tresan, Ohio; Craig Buckley, Calif.; and Ryan Buckley, Ohio.
Mrs. Buckley is survived by five sisters and one brother, Naomi (Lester) Myers, Evelyn (Lane) Ellis, Eva (Edward) Miller, Stella (Harrison) Auxier, Della Brannan, and Everett Elswick.
Ruth was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Elswick, Jimmy Elswick and Paul Elswick; and sister, Mary Morton.
Our grateful appreciation goes to longterm caregivers Judy and Ray Wiblin; Amedisys Home Hospice, Ella and others who lovingly cared for Mrs. Buckley over the last few years.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Jan. 7) at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 8) at Belpre Heights United Methodist Church with Pastor Maria Wiblin, Pastor Rod Brower and Pastor Paul McGuire presiding.
