Carmen B. Brown
Carmen B. Brown, 87, of Waynesburg, formerly of Barlow, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon (March 17, 2013) in her residence, surrounded by her family.
Born in Fleming, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alfred and Hazel Beck Venham. Carmen was a 1943 graduate of Vincent High School in Marietta and was a member of the fellowship of the Little Country Church in Waynesburg. Following her husband’s death she volunteered as a cook at Northwest Indian School in Peoria, Ariz., for 10 years. Carmen loved the outdoors, especially flowers and watching and feeding the birds.
Preceded in death by her husband, James Brown, in 1985; two sons, Tommy and Rodney Brown; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Chick Griffiths, of Carrollton, and Becky and Bob Walker, of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, James “Jim” and Lyle Brown, of Waynesburg; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Vernice Best, of Marietta, Rita Stack, of Fleming, Ohio, and Millie and Butch Clark, of Whipple, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Sharon Venham, of Marietta; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral in Magnolia with the Rev. Dave Harmon officiating. Interment in Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday two hours before the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
