Hattie Grace Bailey

On March 10, 2013, Hattie Grace Bailey left her life on earth to be with her maker, passing away at her home surrounded by family after a long illness.

Born April 17, 1926, the daughter of Bessie May Milligan-Davis and James Edward Harris, Hattie attended Marietta High School until graduating in 1944.

On July 19, 1946, she married Raymond Dale Bailey and they made their home in Pinehurst. Blessed with seven children, Diana Hanna (Jay) of Denver, Colo., Dale Bailey (Linda) of Wingett Run, Ohio, Carol Cash (Ron) of Staunton, Va., Linda Lockhart (David) of Marietta, Cynthia Hilton of Belpre, Ohio, Raymond J. Bailey (Carol) of Fleming, Ohio, Michael Bailey (Tamie) of Marietta, and a foster son, Kenny Webb of Oak Hill, Ohio. Hattie was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Employed by the S.S. Kresge Co. in 1966 until her retirement from the Kmart Corp. in 1984, and volunteer at Marietta Memorial Hospital. An instructor of Water Aerobics’ at the Betsey Mills Club and Chapter Mother Warren FHA. She spent her spare time gardening, canning, crocheting, and spoiling all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Bailey; sisters, Pauline Casto, Lenona Davis-Smith and Irene Kostelnik; brother, Raymond Davis; and son-in-law, David Lockhart.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday (March 14) at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, Ohio, 45750. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (March 13) at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Tunnel Cemetery.
