Edwin R. “Ted” Eckert

Edwin R. “Ted” Eckert, 84, of Stockport, born Aug. 3, 1928, to Ralph C. and Garnet Butcher Eckert in Medina County, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family at 1:35 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2013, in Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta.

He graduated from Sharon Center High School in 1946 and served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was an avid farmer and rural mail carrier. He also served as a 4-H advisor for 59 years in Morgan County and was a member of the Oakland Methodist Church.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ardeth Boudinot Eckert; sisters, Kathleen Stocker of Wadsworth, Ohio, Patricia Keppler of Tennessee, Nancy (Stanley) Starling, Norma Jean Scott, both of Chesterhill, Marilyn Ruth (Kenny) Cunningham of Stockport; brothers, Don (Janet), Dan (Irene) both of Stockport, Richard (Thelma) of Springdale, Ark. and James(Sue) of Nevada; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Phyllis (Hanson) Eckert; brother, Robert Eckert; step-brother, David Evans; brothers in-law, Dick Stocker, Ray Keppler and Emmette Scott; sister in-law, Doris Eckert.

In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity or organization in Ted’s name. A caring cremation was handled by McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly.
