Clarence ‘Joe’ Wallace

Clarence “Joe” Wallace, 88, of Coal Run, died Monday (July 8, 2013) at Muskingum Valley Nursing Home in Beverly.

He was born May 2, 1925, in Coal Run, son of Charles and Asia Hughes Wallace. He worked at Pete Ball’s Garage in Lowell and Marietta Concrete. He served three years as a 3rd Class Gunners Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Cetus.

He married Mary Louise Delong in Greenup, Ky. on June 3, 1948. He is survived by Terry Joe Wallace and Larry (Cheryl) Wallace, Coal Run; Marlene (Rick) Hesson, Beverly; eight grandchildren, TJ II (Tammy) Wallace and Jeremiah (Heather) Wallace, of North Carolina; Jenny (Mike) Bishman & Larry II (Christal) Wallace, Beverly; Janelle (David) Way of Marietta; Ryan Wallace, Coal Run; Jeffrey Hesson, Virginia; Jessica (Matt Rickard) Hesson, Columbus; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Lucy (Ralph) Barton, Coal Run, and Lona Fish, East Lake, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Florence Gallagher, Nellie Roe, Ray, Roy, Elvin, Perley and Oliver Wallace.
