Andrew Clement Brooker

Andrew Clement Brooker, 80, of 350 St. John Road in Marietta (Churchtown) was called Home on Thursday (Aug. 22, 2013). He was born on Dec. 2, 1932; son of the late Albert J. and Ellanora (Huck) Brooker. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown and the Beverly Knights of Columbus. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country in Korea, and a member of the Lowell American Legion. His employment history included positions at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Marietta Metals, and Marietta Concrete.

Andrew was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 56 years (married in July of 1957), Peggy (Handschumacher); daughters, Carol (Jim) McDonough of Blacklick, Rebecca (David) Klepper of Columbus, Andrea (Greg) Strauss of Waterford, Victoria (Robert) Hanson of Beverly, Lillian (Troy) Kahrig of Lancaster, Melissa (Kevin) McCarty of Canal Winchester, and Connie (Bob) Delancy of Williamstown; and son, Phillip (Karen) Brooker of Camarillo, Calif.

He is survived by 19 Grandchildren: Andy, Jon, Michaela, Jared, Evan, Shannon, Cassie, Levi, Jana, Jessica, Joe, Bethany, Kelsey, Samantha, Alexis, Hope, Joshua, Laura, and Maggie; and one great-granddaughter, Roxi. He also has three step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Michael and Katherine, and one grandson, Matthew.

Surviving siblings include his brother, Joe (Sheila) Brooker, and sisters Dorothy Gantley, Rosemary Heiss, and Gladys (Francis) Schilling. Siblings preceding him in death include his brothers, George, Ed, Bill, Paul, Ben, and Emmett Brooker.

His family will receive visitors at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Monday between the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A Vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in the Parish cemetery.
