A. Opal Cooper

A. Opal Cooper, 98, of McConnelsville, died Thursday (Sept. 26, 2013) at Riverside Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation in McConnelsville.

She was born July 30, 1915, in Roxbury, Ohio, daughter of John L. and Minnie Brannon Mills. She was a homemaker and had been the head cook at Roger’s Restaurant in Beverly for 10 years. She attended Windsor High School in Stockport. She was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and a 77-year member of the Neelysville Grange. She loved to quilt, crochet and bake.

She was married June 1, 1932 to Damon Cooper, who died Dec. 17, 1969.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Cooper of Stockport and Jerry Cooper and wife, Norma, of Waterford; two daughters, Marlene Mills of McConnelsville and Vicki Kraps of McConnelsville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, James Cooper; a grandchild, Dorianna Kraps; three brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Dean Mills; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (Sept. 30, 2013) at Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Purvis officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly.
