Anne N. Thomas

Anne N. Thomas, 98, passed away Sunday (Oct. 20, 2013) at Selby General Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 27, 1915 in Waukegan, Ill., daughter of the late Victor and Anna Pickunas Norkus. She married John C. Thomas Dec. 22, 1934. He died June 2, 1983. She was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, a lifelong world traveler, free thinker, and lover of literature, nature and animals.

She is survived by daughter, Jane A. Tumas-Serna of Marietta Ohio, and a son and daughter-in-law John D. Thomas and Lise Thomas of La Selva Beach Calif.; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Laura A. Serna-Maytorena and Eric W. Richendollar of Marietta; and three great-grandsons, Alexander T. Richendollar, Christopher F. Richendollar, and Nicholas A. Richendollar of Marietta.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Norkus; a son-in-law, Manuel A. Serna-Maytorena; and a grandson, Mark I. Serna-Maytorena.

A memorial service honoring her life and legacy will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, Marietta, Ohio with the Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker officiating. Internment will be at the Lithuanian National Cemetery, Justice, Ill.
