Joanne Brooker, beloved wife of James Raymond Brooker and loving mother of her four children, passed away on Oct. 9, 2013. She was 81 years old. She lived most of her life in Vienna, Va., and was happily married to Jim for 54 years.
She is survived by Matthew Brooker of Vienna, Va.; Cynthia Olson of Arlington, Va., Sara Sobota of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Kristine Punga of Silver Spring, Md.; and five grandchildren, Bryce, Alex, and Aidan Sobota, Freya Olson, and Ryder Punga.
Joanne was a caregiver, consultant, and advocate for survivors of traumatic brain injury. Throughout her adult life she was a leader in a number of Christian ministry activities including women’s bible studies and Stephens Ministry. She loved spending time at the beach and traveling, particularly on cruises, with Jim.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. The service will be held at Truro Anglican Church, located at 10520 Main St., Fairfax, Va. A reception at the church will follow.
