Bernard W. ‘Bernie’ Richards

Bernard W. “Bernie” Richards, 61, of Williamstown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday (Nov. 1, 2013) at his residence.

Bernie was born Nov. 24, 1951, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Troy and Audry (Smith) Richards. He was retired after nearly 40 years of service as a glass worker for Fenton Glass of Williamstown. He was also a graduate of Belpre High School, enjoyed boating on the river, hosting family cookouts, and participating in many charity walks in the Mid Ohio Valley.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Bright (Paul) of Marietta; and son, Bernard Wayne “BW” Richards of Williamstown; grandchildren, Madison Bright, Kortney Bright, and Brenden Mills; brothers and sisters, Wilma Craddock (Leon), Clifford Richards (Anita), Steve Richards, Kathy Hardwick (Kevin), Tim Richards, Mark Richards (Audrey), Paula Hennessee (Dave), Paul Richards, Scott Richards, and Greg Richards (Alisa); along with several nieces, nephews, and good friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his fiance’, Lori Miller; stepmother, EvaJean Richards; brothers, Michael and Danny Richards; and sisters, Betty and Patty.

A memorial service to honor Bernie’s life will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2013) at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. A gathering of friends and family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bernard Richards Fund at Williamstown National Bank.
