Ira Herold Pritchard

Ira Herold Pritchard, 86, of Barlow, Ohio, passed peacefully on Nov. 13, 2013 after a long battle with bone cancer. He was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Spencer, W.Va. to Effie Grace Pritchard and Snowden Thorn Huffman.

After serving in the Army, he was employed by Monongahela Power/Allegheny Power where he retired in 1992. He enjoyed traveling to Texas each winter and riding his Harley.

He leaves behind three daughters, Susan Foster of Barlow, Peggy Pritchard of Fleming and Jody Pritchard of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and Spencer Thorn Foster, his one and only grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including his favorite, Linda Burnworth Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth Schwartz in 1976; his sisters, Tressie Gessel, Violet Carpenter, Dixie; and brother, A. R. Huffman.

Per Ira’s request, his body was donated to Ohio University Biomedical Sciences. A celebration of his life is being planned for Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. at Little Warren Firehouse on Ohio 550 in Marietta.
