Mark Plechaty

Mark Bedway Plechaty, 64, of Newport, Ohio, passed away Thursday (Nov. 28, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born at Gallipolis, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph and Francis Bedway Plechaty.

Mark attended the St. Marys Catholic Church and was very active in the AA Association.

He was a former employee of Atlas Steel, worked as a commercial truck driver and was an iron worker.

Mark was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, member of the VFW of Marietta, the American Legion and Alcoholics Anonymous.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, riding motorcycles and especially sharing chocolate chip cookies with his grandson.

Surviving is his daughter, Danielle (Michael) Bettinger of Newport and his grandson, Talon Bettinger; two sisters, Joyce (Troy) Knight and Tana Plechaty, both of Marietta.

He is also survived by his living brothers and sisters of AA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Plechaty.

There will be a memorial service held at 6:30 p.m. today, at the VFW on Pike Street in Marietta, Chaplain Bob Sinnett will officiate.
