Raymond Dallas McCloud

Raymond Dallas McCloud of Marietta passed away Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2013) at the home of his brother and his wife, Dan and Mariesa McCloud.

He was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Marietta, to Mary (Scarbrough) and Russell McCloud. After high school, Sgt. McCloud enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Alaska, after being discharged he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam conflict and Desert Storm. He was a highly decorated Green Beret, Special Forces, and Airborne when he retired from the Army. He was stationed in numerous places including Germany, France, Korea, Vietnam, and Fort Bragg.

He is survived by two children, Jeanna Pennington of Mississippi and Teresa Hutchison of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Destin, Tiffanie and Danny; five brothers, Danny (Mariesa) McCloud, Jimmie McCloud, Larry (Tonya) McCloud, Mike (Han Ok) McCloud, and Russell McCloud; four sisters, Janet (Butch) Mclntosh, Dee (Gary) Ward, Randa (Scott) Arrowood, and Kelly (Rich) Howell; stepmother, Jean (Don) Brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Russell Jr.; and sisters, Darlene (Ed) Kostolick, Maxine (Bill) Cassady and Leora (Dick) Callihan; stepfather, Jack Cunningham; and closest friend, Jerry Roush.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 7) with funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday (Nov. 8) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, with full military honors. He will be interred in Rainbow Cemetery, Lowell. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.

He was a life member of VFW Post 1508, life member of the Special Forces Association, a member of American Legion Post 159, the DAV, Eagles and Moose. Contributions can be made in his memory to American Legion Post 159, Williamstown.
