Harold F. Wootton

Harold F. Wootton, 89, of Little Hocking, Ohio, died on Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2013) at the Willows. He was born July 13, 1924, in Coolville, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Icie (Cole) Wootton.

Harold served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army in the 504th Artillery Battallion. He was a member of Little Hocking United Methodist Church. He retired from Elkem Metals as a furnace operator and he retired as a bus driver from Warren Local Schools.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Wootton; two sons, Clyde F. Wootton (Cheryl) of Tulsa, Okla. and Dale V. Wootton (Nancy) of Little Hocking, Ohio; three grandchildren, DeJaya L. Soltys (Steve) of Raleigh NC, Adam D. Wootton (Katie) of Parkersburg, and Abbey D. Tanner (Scott) of Little Hocking, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Ellie Wootton, Regan Tanner, Greyson Tanner, and Zachary Soltys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Paul Wootton.

The funeral service will be Saturday (Dec. 7) beginning at 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Dr. Randy Kochersperger officiating. Burial will follow the service in Rockland Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be Friday (Dec. 6) from 3 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He was known as the handyman of Little Hocking because he knew how to do almost everything and was willing to help anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Wootton; two sons, Clyde F. Wootton (Cheryl) of Tulsa, Okla., and Dale V. Wootton (Nancy) of Little Hocking, Ohio; three grandchildren, DeJaya L. Soltyz (Steve) of Durham, N.C., Adam D. Wootton (Katie) of Parkersburg, and Abby D. Tanner (Scott) of Little Hocking, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Ellie Wootton, Regan Tanner, Greyson Tanner, and Zachary Soltyz.
