Walter Esten Oliver

Walter “Peanut” Esten Oliver, 85, of Marietta, passed away at midnight Monday (March 3, 2014) at The Arbors. He was born May 12, 1929, at Point Pleasant, W.Va., to William and Katherine Oliver. Peanut was employed the U.S. Steel Corporation as a pipefitter.

Walter is survived by four sons and two daughters, Walter E. “Eddie” Oliver (Diedra) of Lowell, David Oliver and John Oliver of Marietta, Tony Oliver (Angie) of Lowell, Sherry Whipkey (Gregory) and Brenda Oliver of Marietta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim Oliver (Maxine) of Beavercreek, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ray Bentley; brother, Bob Oliver; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (March 5) at 3 p.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, where friends may call on Tuesday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. Messages of sympathy may be sent at
