Paul Dye Duffy
Paul Dye Duffy, 84, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on Saturday (June 21, 2014) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1930, in Newport, Ohio, to the late Gilbert and Ida Farnsworth Duffy.
After Paul graduated from Newport High School in 1948, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1955. After his military service, he worked at the GE Chemical Plant, where he was also a member of the Fire Brigade. Paul was a founding member of the Reno Volunteer Fire Department, and volunteered there for 35 years. He was also a volunteer driver for the Veteran’s Services for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 and Moose Lodge #1823. He was also an avid shuffleboard player, a voracious reader and enjoyed watching his favorite TV show, NCIS.
Paul is survived by five children, Gary Duffy, Danny Duffy (Pam), Cindy Francis (Ronald), Tom Duffy (Pam), and Karen Schaad (Chuck); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ina Feathers (Ed) of Michigan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Eileen; and seven siblings, Charles, Clifford, Fred, Lawrence, Helen, Patty and Connie.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (June 25) at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (June 24), where Moose Lodge #1823 will hold a short service at 7:30 p.m.
