Norma Jean Woodburn

Norma Jean Woodburn, 76, of McConnelsville, passed away at 9:20 p.m., July 15, 2014, at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville.

She was born May 11, 1938, in Columbus, the daughter of the late William James Thomas and Louise Alpha Davis Thomas.

She was raised by her foster parents, Harold Dick and Faunna Combs. She was a housewife and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Neelysville, and the OCCL, Eagles Ladies Auxilary in McConnelsville, former Boyscout Leader, and was a volunteer for Literacy at Kate Love Simpson Library.

She is survived by husband, George B. Woodburn, whom she married May 17, 1959; sisters, Faye McFerren and Jessie (John) Garvin; daughters, Brenda (Dan) Junn and Barbara (Rodney) Woodburn; sons, Rocky (Jenny) Woodburn and Marc (Kathy) Woodburn; grandchildren, Jason (Shala) Junn, Melissa (Troy) Blackstone, Wesley Junn, Jenna (Matt) Meleski, Janna Woodburn, Mackinzie Allan Woodburn and Ashley (Jeremy) Fritz; and great-grandchildren, Cade Mollahan, Torin Blackstone, Owen Junn, Emma Junn, Audria Junn, Jorden Fritz and Madelin Meleski. In addition to her parents and foster parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Davis; brother-in-law, Edsel McFerren; and a son, Russell “Rusty” Woodburn.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 18, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 19, with Pastor Walter Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest by her son in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
