Joshua Taylor Gammon

Joshua Taylor Gammon, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, January l5, 2017, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Born February 24, l957, in Beaufort, S.C., Joshua was the eldest son of the late Barbara Neitzey Gammon and Jack Taylor Gammon.

Joshua moved with his family in l96l to Marietta, Ohio, where his father practiced law at Fogle and Fogle Law Firm. Graduating from Marietta Senior High School in l975, he then attended the University of Denver. Upon returning from college he became a partner with his mother, Barbara, at the Tin Rabbit Antiques in Marietta, as an antique dealer. Joshua was well known in the valley for his  expertise on antique furniture, paintings and books.

Joshua is survived by his son, Caleb Taylor Gammon of Mandan, N.D.; and his daughter, Rachel Joanna Gammon of Marietta. Josh’s children have been and forever will be the pride and light of his life. Through them Josh found much joy and hope. Also surviving are two brothers, Peter Gammon (Kelly), of Marietta and Jacob Gammon (Maryanne), of Columbus. One nephew, Jack Taylor Gammon; and three nieces, Hannah, Sydney and Emily. Joshua is also survived by his long time best friend “Sophie;” many, many, “Friends of Bill;” and the mother of his children, Terrie Gammon.

As he wished Joshua will be cremated and there will be no viewing services. The family wishes to invite all who knew Josh to a memorial service on Thursday, January l9 at 2 p.m., at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 320 Second Street in Marietta. A reception will follow in the social hall. Joshua will be placed in the memorial garden at St. Lukes with his parents, Barbara and Jack.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at MMH ICU, especially Chrissy and Amanda his ICU nurses. These nurses not only cared for Joshua, but they showed compassion and consideration for his children, which went above and beyond their “call of duty.” Because of them Josh’s children were allowed more time with their father. A special thanks is also given to Lynn Ellis for making the call for help, and being such a friend to the family. For this the family is eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to any Recovery Organization in the valley, in memory of Josh, so they may continue their great works in the area.
