Edward Anton Huettel

It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Anton Huettel, formerly of Barlow, announces his passing in Naples, FL, on July 13, 2017, after a brief illness. Ed was born on March 14, 1932, in Rockville, Connecticut, to Anton and Anna (Lipke) Huettel.

Ed graduated from Lehigh University in 1954 with a B.S. in Chemistry. He later served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Ed began his career with B.F. Goodrich in Akron, Ohio, then later transferred to Marietta where he met his wife Louise. Ed retired in 1995 as Technical Director after a successful 41 years at B.F. Goodrich and RJF International. In later years, Ed enjoyed golfing, the beach, and following his grandchildren in their sports and extra-curricular activities.

He will be lovingly remembered by Louise (Samples), his wife of 60 years and their children Mike, Kathy (Michael) Mendel, Mark, and Kary (Gary) Bertrand. He will be greatly missed by his eleven grandchildren Allison (Pat) Hyland, Nick, Alex, and Mikey Huettel; Cody and Casey Mendel; Sam and Chloe Huettel; Kamryn, Drew and Evan Bertrand, and one great-grandaughter Riley Hyland. Ed is also survived by brothers-in-law Mel (Jan) Samples and John (Nancy) Samples as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia (Barry) Gilbert, and his son-in-law Michael Mendel.

A memorial service for family was held in Naples. An additional service will be scheduled at a later date in Barlow followed by internment at Barlow Cemetery.
