Anthony ‘Tony’ Morrison

Anthony “Tony” Morrison, 59, of Marietta, died Friday morning, Aug. 11, 2017, in Marietta. Born April 14, 1958, in Marietta, he was a son of the late Ernest and Fanchon Doyle Morrison.

He had retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and had been employed by Ingram Barge Company as a tow boat pilot. Tony had also been manager of the Highland Ridge Water Association and currently thoroughly enjoyed working as a school bus driver for Marietta City Schools.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge American Union #1 and the Marietta Shrine Club. Also the Sons of the American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose #1823 and was an active member of the Marietta Boat Club. Tony enjoyed golfing, bike riding, Ohio State University football games and time spent working outdoors.

Tony married Shirley Davis on Aug. 20, 1983. She survives, along with his aunt, Mabel Anderson, of Silver Spring, Md.; his mother-in-law, Mary Davis, of Marietta; brothers-in-law, Bob Davis, Roger (Connie) Davis, Charles (Kathy) Davis; several cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

A gathering of Tony’s family and friends to celebrate his life will be held Aug. 20 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m., with a sharing of memories to begin at 4 p.m. Burial of ashes will be in Putnam Cemetery.
