Patricia ‘Sue’ Marvin
Patricia “Sue” Marvin, 86, of Marietta, OH passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at her residence. She was born on April 6, 1931 in Louisa, KY to the late O.T. and Olivene Walker Kent.
Sue graduated from Magnolia High School in Matewan, WV at the age of 16 and Southern Seminary at the age of 18. After moving to Marietta, OH, she worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Company, working her way from service representative, to supervisor and finally to manager. She was heavily involved with the community. Sue was on the United Way Board, Co-Chair of the Pacesetters Group, Salvation Board, Tourist and Convention Board, Showboat Becky Thatcher Board, Marietta Chamber of Commerce Board, Marietta County Club Board, Betsey Mills Women’s Board, Marietta Memorial Foundation Board, Zonta Int. Board, Marietta Welfare League Board, Sheriff’s Accountability Committee, Washington State Community College Board, Marietta Times Reader’s Advisory Board, Selby Hospital Corporation Board and “Friends of Selby”, and Kiwanis. Sue enjoyed golfing, and being a friend to her neighbors and neighbor’s pets.
She is survived by her son, Thomas K. Marvin (Tara); grandchildren, Lindsey Pottmeyer (Daniel Westfall), Seleen Cockrell (William), Melissa Cherry (Todd); great grandchildren, Arianna Jade and Lainya Maeve Pottmeyer and Tyson and Tanner Cherry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward James Marvin; brother, Jack Kent (Rebecca) and grandson, Michael Thomas Marvin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH with Pastor Roger Rush officiating. Entombment to follow at East Lawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the funeral home.
