Richard “Rick” R. Hendershot
Richard “Rick” R. Hendershot, 60, of Whipple, OH passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 22, 1957 in Marietta, OH to the late Richard Irvin and Mary Frances Binegar Hendershot.
In high school and throughout college he worked at Zide’s Sport Shop in Marietta. While there, he traveled to schools to fit helmets and equipment. He also worked on developing the screen printing process with Bob Zide while attending college at Ohio University. He graduated from Ohio University in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology. He stayed with Zide’s until he left to work as a manufacturing engineer at Forma Scientific in 1981. He later accepted his current role as the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and Facilities. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing and Engineers and Masterton Lodge #429 F.&A.M. Rick enjoyed farming, camping, westerns, tinkering with cars as a mechanic and running his powder coating business.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Terry Chipps Hendershot, whom he married on August 11, 1979 in Lowell, OH; his daughter, Tiffany Bailey (Brad); son, Matt Hendershot; one granddaughter, Samantha Bailey; sister, Debra Elliott; brother, Steve Hendershot; mother-in-law, Marguerite Dolores Chipps; former sister-in-law, Tina Erb Hendershot; nieces, Maggie, Lacey and Courtney Hendershot and his beloved dog, Jack, who was by his side at all times.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Earl Chipps.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Marietta Hospice for their care and compassion.
Per his request, cremation will be observed with memorial and masonic services to be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH, where friends are encouraged to share stories of Rick.
