Richard U. Gillon
Richard U. Gillon, 79, of Marietta, OH passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 29, 1938 in Butler, PA to the late Richard A. and Genevieve Renforth Gillon.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was dearly loved by his family. He was a member of The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty J. Gillon and their children; Richard “Rick” Gillon (Crusita) of Melbourne, FL, Carol Antill (Greg) of Marietta, OH and Gary Gillon of Chesterfield, VA; five grandchildren, Rusty Antill (Missy), Kyle Antill (Kayla), Tyler Antill (fiance, Laura Hill), Monique Gilbert (Joe) and Adam Gillon (Rachel Moore); four great grandchildren, Morgan, Mason, Maddox and Kenadee Antill and three brothers-in-law, John Fuller (Peggy), Jim Young and Jim Moyer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Young and Nancy Moyer.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kelly Cawley and Marietta Hospice for their compassion and care.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 506 4th St., Marietta with Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in The New St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption; or to Marietta Home Health and Hospice, 450 Pike St, Suite I-1, Marietta, OH 45750.
