Ruth M. Lafferre
Ruth M. Lafferre, 83, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at her home.
She was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on April 24, 1934 a daughter of the late Earl and Carrie Doan Martin.
She was a graduate of Woodsfield High School, Woodsfield, Ohio, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ruth was a faithful member of the Stafford United Methodist Church, Stafford, Ohio, where she was active in serving the Lord. She was a retired secretary for the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District.
She loved life, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She loved her many friendships with her card players, traveling friends, and her church family. Ruth especially loved cooking for her family during the holidays and enjoyed watching her family in sports and rarely missed a game. She took great pride in keeping up and running the family farm.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Earl Lafferre on April 12, 2007; three brothers, Lucian Weber, Frank “Dick” Martin, and Warren Martin.
Surviving are four children, Kirk (Karen) Lafferre of Lewisville, Ohio, Karen (Dick) Sulsberger of Woodsfield, Ohio, Kevin (Kris) Lafferre of Lewisville, Ohio, Kasey Lafferre and companion Jacey Duffy of Lewisville, Ohio; one sister, Dama Burkhart of Indiana; ten grandchildren, Keith and Karrie Lafferre, Abby (Bill) Roen, Ryan and Louis Sulsberger, Lynsey (Jacob) Beaver, Trent Lafferre, Kelsey (Andrew) Winland, Kim Lafferre, Korey Lafferre; seven great grandchildren, Mandalyn Calovini, Donovan, Dalton, and Elin Roen, Peyton and Jett Beaver, Creighton Winland; a sister-in-law, Shirley Evans of Baltimore, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, West Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 with Rev. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio.
