Wanda Jean Hammett
Wanda Jean Hammett, 80, Belmont, wife of Billy Joe Hammett for 61 years, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 comfortably in her home surrounded by love with family. She was born in Washington County, OH, on July 1, 1937, a daughter of the late Gordon William and Lula Hazel Hutchison McPeek. She was a graduate of Newport High School. Wanda was manager at Hammett’s Dairy Bar, a family owned business and later the Vice President of J&J Equipment, also a family owned business. She was the mother of four daughters and seven grandchildren which she called the “Super 7”, and one great-grandchild. She enjoyed many things; spoiling her Super 7 grandchildren, visiting with friends, playing cards, going to car races, and horseback riding. In her later years, she loved reading cards people sent her. She was a member of George Street Church of Christ. Wanda was extremely blessed to have caregivers that turned into family; Tina Farnsworth, Regina Taylor, Nancy Binegar, Misty Miller, Erin Pritchett, Lisa Bowie, Vicki Heddleston, and Wanda Wehmeyer.
Survivors other than her husband include four daughters, Debbie Hamilton, and her husband Barry Hamilton, Barbara Edgar, Angie Perrine, and Teresa Hall, and her husband Max Hall, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Katrina Hamilton, Jill (Seth) Sims, Kristyn (Tom) Bruno, Eric (Catie) Hamilton, Katelyn Perrine, Evan and Ashley Hall; one great-grandson, Carter Sims; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents , and brothers and sisters, Harry McPeek, Truman McPeek, Marvin McPeek, Dean McPeek, Junior McPeek, Kathleen Binegar, and Verna Binegar. The family would like to say a special thank you to House Calls in Harrisville, Hospice of Parkersburg, and Anita Rose, a wonderful angel.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday November 10, 2017 at Ingram Funeral Home with Rob Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Island Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. Thursday and 12 to 1 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
