Harry Dale Piatt

Harry Dale Piatt, 77, of Gardiner, Montana passed, away on August 26, 2017.

He was born on December 6, 1939, to Edger “Mike” and Mary Ann (Menke) Piatt in Williamstown, West Virginia. Dale graduated from Marietta College June 5, 1961. He worked at Xanterra as a retail buyer for Yellowstone National Park and often referred to his time in Montana as “living in a post card”.

A man of honor, humor, and grace, he was an avid fly fisherman and conservationist with a love of all things reptile and avian. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, teaching them to say things that would inevitably embarrass their parents in public like “excuse me, I meant to puke.” Time spent in nature with Dale was always a delightful lesson in species identification and habitat, along with the occasional dose of his endearingly dry wit.

He is survived by his daughters Maureen Kenner(Todd) and Patti Michelle Piatt (John Culbertson), grandsons Andrew, Matthew, Nathan, and Anthony Kenner and Shelby DeWeese, one great grandchild Bentley Kenner, sister Jeanette Gregory, and 3 nephews – Scott, Kyle, and Chris Gregory and many close friends including Mike and Jessica Radabaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Christopher Nikolich.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at the home of Patty Varner 312 Fifth Street Williamstown, WV, 26187. Bourbon is encouraged.

Donations to the MS Society, Ducks Unlimited, or your local food pantry are requested in lieu of flowers.
